Margins of Memory:
Cultures and Politics
of Non-Hegemonic Remembrance

This is an international network I co-founded with Volha Bartash (U of Regensburg / U of Münster). It brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines who work with memory cultures of marginalized groups across the world (our members focus on regions such as Eastern and Western Europe, the South Caucasus, North America, Latin America, Africa, and Australia). We are driven by stories that have remained untold for a long time because they do not ot did not fit hegemonic historical narratives. We seek to question the politics of hegemonic remembrance by exploring how margins of memory are produced and challenged in societies across the globe. More information here.

Q*ASEEES
Society for the Promotion of LGBTQ Slavic, East European &
Eurasian Studies

Q*ASEEES emerged within the professional association for Slavic Studies in the USA – ASEEES. It promotes all forms of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) studies in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian societies, including but not limited to history, literary and cultural studies, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. Since 2019, I have been a Board Member of this affiliate group. More information here.

Working Group
on Drama and Performance

I co-founded the Working Group on Drama and Performance with Susanna Weygandt in 2020. It is an interest group within the ASEEES and serves as a forum for scholars who study the past and present of Eastern European and Eurasian national and transnational drama as well as movements and practices in the performing arts more broadly. It also unites researchers interested in exploring the potential of applying the theories and methods of Performance Studies to the analysis of political, social, and cultural processes in the region. Additionally, it is a hub where scholars share best practices of integrating diverse aspects of drama and performance into teaching. More information here.
